PRESS RELEASE: The Basement Doctor Helps Homeless Animals

March 24, 2009

Ron Greenbaum, aka The Basement Doctor, is doing more than just fixing basements these days; he is helping homeless animals at CHA Animal Shelter. “There are so many ways to help out”, say Mr. Greenbaum. “It’s a great way to give back to the community and feel good about what you are doing!” Just this year, The Basement Doctor has participated as a sponsor at the Paws to Party Wine Tasting, did a photo shoot with the adoptable dogs and cats, handed out the animals’ information at the Home and Garden Show, and sponsored a booth for CHA Animal Shelter at the upcoming Pet Expo being held at Vets Memorial on March 27, 28, and 29. “The hardest part is not adopting all the animals myself!” comments Greenbaum, a huge animal lover. To resist temptation he helps promote the animals as much as possible and then celebrates when they get adopted. “Ron and his staff are fabulous. They bring so many ideas and so much energy to the table”, comments Terri Montigny, Development Director for CHA Animal Shelter. “I love working with them and they are great with the animals!”

The Basement Doctor will be having a supply drive for CHA Animal Shelter the week of April 6-11. You can drop off much needed supplies for the shelter at the Reynoldsburg Showroom at 7369 E. Livingston Avenue, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. For questions call 614.522.0784 x 222. “We go through an average of 60 rolls of paper towels and 16 gallons of bleach a week,” commented Montigny. “Basic supplies are always needed.” For a complete list of items, visit CHA’s website at www.CHAAnimalShelter.org and click on donations.

The Basement Doctor is also sponsoring “Dog-ese for Kids”, a bite prevention class. The April 11th class is from 10-Noon at the Reynoldsburg Showroom, and designed to help children (5 and older) and adults learn more about dogs and ways for kids to be safe around dogs. According to Montigny, “Statistics show that as many 61% of dog bites happen at home or in a familiar place. The majority of biting dogs, as high as 77%, belong to the victim’s family or a friend. We want to make sure this doesn’t happen to your dog and child!” This class is free to the public. Please RSVP to Terri@CHAAnimalShelter.org or 614.895.4873.
